The Langley Ukulele Association (LUA) is a highly acclaimed, non-profit youth performing arts organization based in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. Established in 1981 by Peter Luongo, the association has earned an international reputation for musical excellence, group leadership, and community service. For the past 45 years LUA has served the community and enriched the lives of thousands of children and countless audience members all over the world. In all the association features three distinct student performing ensembles designed to transition young musicians from beginners to world-class performers.
The organization is internationally renowned for their excellence in music instruction and performance and despite being a group comprised of high school students, the association’s principal performing ensemble is considered to be the most skilled ukulele group in the world. The Senior group is made up of high school students and that group tours nationally and internationally and have presented at major events and festivals in Japan, across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
The Association were prominently featured in an award-winning documentary film, The Might Uke; The Amazing Come Back of a Musical Underdog (2010) and were annual performers at the Sheraton Waikiki Resort each summer for over 25 years.
Peter Luongo is one of the most experienced and highly regarded ukulele teachers/directors in the world. He has dedicated over 40 years to enhancing the lives of generations of music students young and old.
